WORKSHOPS
Gather. Sing. Learn. Create.
Rising Appalachia — sisters Leah Song and Chloe Smith — host immersive workshops both in person and online, inviting participants into the living practice behind the music.
From folk choir gatherings and songwriting intensives to explorations of vocal improvisation and the mechanics of music, these offerings are rooted in community, creativity, and embodied learning.
In Person Workshops
Our community-based song workshops and folk choir experiences are a way for us to step off the stage and onto the ground together.
We weave vocal improvisation, somatic exercises, songwriting prompts, body-based creativity, tending to the muse, and freeform singing into each gathering.
This practice of teaching and learning is a deep nourishment — a space to reconnect with voice, community, and creative expression.
Upcoming workshops and retreats will be listed here.
ONLINE WORKSHOPS
The Song Catcher & The Muse
Rising Appalachia’s signature online workshop is a masterclass in songcatching and songwriting with interactive sessions, live instruction, and collaborative opportunities. Participants gain tools for songwriting, lyricism, and creative techniques, along with vocal practice and artistic expression.
Through guided practices, creative prompts, and community connection, this series explores the art of songwriting, listening, and finding your authentic voice.
Stay tuned for future online offerings.
